Trustee Board

The Board of Trustees ensures that the Union is being run in accordance with our own rules, as well as making sure that it complies with relevant legislation, is financially prudent and is managed to a high standard.

For example, the Board of Trustees approves RSU’s financial plans and top-level strategies whilst overseeing the Union’s annual report and accounts. We also use the trustee board to help achieve our charitable objectives.

The Trustee Board is made up of:

  • Three Sabbatical Officer Trustees (elected sabbaticals)
  • One Part-Time Officer Trustee,
  • Two Student Trustees (an undergraduate and postgraduate representative)
  • Four external trustees who bring a range of experiences and areas of specialism to the Trustee Board, currently we have trustees with education, financial and legal, local charity and national charity background

University Nominated Trustee

A university nominee will appointed to the trustee board in 2023 alongside a review of the union's articles of association.

RSU is registered with the Charity Commission (registration no.1139857) as well as registered with Companies’ House (registration number 07323081). The Union also has a duty to report to the Charity Commission and Companies House on an annual basis.
