Got an idea of how RSU could work better for students?

You're the students, and the RSU is run by you, so tell the RSU what you want us to do and campaign on.

All you have to do is submit your idea below, once submitted you have 2 weeks to first of all get 1% of the student population to vote on it (currently 80 students). Then secondly, 50% +1 of those who voted to vote in favour of your idea. Once you reach the required number of votes, SUC will review the idea and vote for it to become Policy of the RSU. It's that simple!!!

Once Policy, the RSU will campaign, lobby and if we can, enact your idea, to try to improve student life here at Roehampton.

    Change the RSU events strategy

    Expired
My idea is for the RSU to completely rethink and change their approach to events, given how underwhelming and in some cases poorly thought out events have been so far. The removal of thirsty Thursdays, the lack of at the very least promotion of events for students and at the very most events in general is rather unfortunate. In my opinion there is currently a campaign against drinking within the RSU and its restraining what events can and will happen. Thirsty Thursdays were removed entirely and they should be brought back, it got people out and about on campus and interacting with the union and other students in a much safer environment than going out into london. The removal of themes from bop was also a mistake. Themes gave people something to look forward to and when the music was done right (definitely something else to be addressed) it was a good night. A way to stop people from going is by removing the interest week from week. Its the same almost every time now and it doesnt generate the same excitement it used too. This forces people to go out and away from the safer space of the university, something I'm completely sure a lot of people enjoy anyway, but it's not everyones ideal situation. The lack of effort in these events is sad especially when compared to other universities, who get guests to come in and DJ, who have their events planned out in advance and really try to engage the students in a safe environment instead of slowly killing all interest in weekly RSU events. Please upvote this, I think we would all love to see a change in the RSU's handling of events and I think it would benefit the good will people have on campus.
