Application Deadline: 12.00noon Monday 1 March 2021

Role Overview
Roehampton Students’ Union is looking for two enthusiastic people to work as Edible Campus Growers and provide essential day-to-day support for the Growhampton Project. The successful candidate(s) will help to manage our growing spaces and deliver a dynamic food-growing volunteer programme to students, staff and the local community. There are two 12-month fixed-term positions vacant at 0.5 FTE (with the possibility of extension). We are planning for the appointed candidate(s) to commence in post from March 2021.
The Growhampton Project is an award-winning, student-led food project run by Roehampton Students’ Union.

Our ethos is to produce high quality, fresh vegetables for the local community whilst engaging students in field-to-fork journeys and doing our best for the climate, biodiversity and the soil. We are an active member of Capital Growth and the Land Workers Alliance.
The Growhampton Project is situated on London’s campus university in Roehampton and the growing site includes raised beds, allotments, a polytunnel, container garden and orchard. It is an educational enterprise, with commercial elements, that has a passion for food education, soil health, community partnership, animal welfare and provides opportunities for all. The primary outlet for our produce is the popular on-site Hive Café and zero waste shop, which serves the university local communities. We also supply fresh organic veg to a community food box scheme distributed locally. We are a four season growing site producing a large range of crops year-round. We grow several varieties of different seasonal crops, from tomatoes and salad leaves to turnips and melons.

It is a busy and exciting time for Growhampton and we are looking for someone to help us on our journey and who can grow with us.

What we offer
Due to the scale of the university campus and the different growing sites available there will be plenty of opportunity to experience and learn about the varied methods to engage our members in food education, wellbeing and sustainability: from sowing seeds and watering, to harvesting and repairing veg beds.
