Overview

Freshers’ Fest was introduced to our Freshers’ Week programme in 2015 and was such a success we just had to bring it back for 2016! We know you’re going to love it! The event gives a taster of the daytime part of our iconic Summer Ball; live music, comedy, food stalls, drink vendors all make for a chilled out festival-themed event.

Confirmed Acts:

DUKE

Duke offer a fusion of live vocals with the combination of beat-boxing, vocal percussion/bass lines, harmonies with acoustic guitar creating a completely unique concept to the UK and to the world. Duke have been labelled as being one of the most exciting acts to see live.

Their sets feature Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, R&B, Drum & Bass, Reggae/Ska, House and even Indie Rock all in a performed in the band's fresh beatbox style!

This trio have been performing together since 2005, having met through a shared love of improvised music. The energy and unique sound of their live shows creates massive interest wherever they play, and this in turn led to non-stop gigging and established residencies in venues all over the country. With a rapidly expanding fan base, growing interest has led to high profile concerts and spots on the festival circuit alongside headline gigs all over the UK.

As seen at Summer Ball 2016, we’re bring ODB back to Roehampton for Freshers’ Week to show all of our new students just how great they are.

Since forming in 2012, Old Dirty Brasstards have gained an enviable reputation for their bold and innovative approach to introducing brass music to brand new audiences.

The tweed-clad 10 piece brass and drum collective contains some of London's top freelance musicians, playing an eclectic mix of pop, R&B and soul covers that never fail to get any dance floor jumping with joy!

ODB have brought their uniquely entertaining and energetic style to several major music festivals across the UK, including Bestival, Glastonbury, Latitude and Secret Garden Party, as well as venues such as Fabric, the Forum and KOKO with residencies at Brooklyn Bowl and Shoreditch Blues Kitchen.
