Hi all, I’m Saba, a final year Psychology Student and I am running for NUS delegate to be YOUR voice. As a representative for Exeter at the NUS National Conference I will support motions that focus on YOUR views at a national level. 

If elected this year I will vote to pass motions that address the following issues:

1. Free AND decolonised curriculum:

  • Education should be accessible to everyone and not dependent on affordability. Amidst all the national and local issues, the main ambition of the NUS is to provide free education allowing everyone to achieve their goals and aspirations without these financial barriers put in place. Undergrad, postgrad and international fees are skyrocketing while financial support dwindles. Teaching budgets have seen unprecedented cuts. We need protest and direct action with firm principles:
  • Until fees at all levels of education are abolished, we must fight every rise, and demand subsidised loans to let everyone access postgrad degrees.

2. Protect EU Students:

  • I want to ensure that the NUS protects EU students by making sure that their education is not threatened by Brexit and that they have the right to remain after Brexit.

3. No to Austerity, Racism AND Sexism:

  • I will vote for NUS teaming up with ethical organisations in the struggle against racism and sexism. I will support anti-racist, anti-semitism, feminist and LGBT rights campaigns to end prejudice and discrimination at universiti
