Hello everyone, I am Ishairo Amouten but many of you may know me as Ish. I’m currently in my second year of Psychology at Roehampton and I’m campaigning to become your new Whitelands president for the 2019/2020 academic year!

For too long Whitelands has been pushed to the outskirts of Roehampton and its currently in need of some TLC! Too many of the facilities are unused, too many of the Whitelands student voices have gone unheard but it’s time to bring a change and as your new Whitelands President I promise I’ll bring that change. Equipped with a vibrant personality, a go-getter attitude and the commitment to fight for what’s right I’ll ensure that I’ll listen and communicate regularly with all the students on campus and strive to bring forth all the change needed to bring Whitelands back to its former glory. Having lived on Whitelands for my first year and currently being part of the Whitelands football team I know exactly what it means to be a badger which I believe is key skill needed to ensure I fulfil my role as Whitelands president to the best of my ability! Furthermore, I believe my experience of being the Universal Black Minds (UBM) president makes me stand out as the ideal candidate to become Whitelands president, I have a clear understanding of the hard work, commitment and dedication that is requires to be a president of an organisation and I believe I can bring the skills I’ve gained from being UBM President and use them to make Whitelands a better place for all students.

But what will I be bringing to the table?

Having spoken to many students on Whitelands and based off my personal experience, if I become president I will aim to:

• -       Make better use of the football field behind Whitelands; hosting regular football matches which I intend to also use to raise money for charity.
• -       Ensuring that there is a male/female football team
• -       Using the Sett in Whitelands for regular socials for Whitelands students.
• -       More vegan/vegetarian options at the canteen.
• -       Improving the on/off campus life for Whitelands students.
• -       Introducing workshops; ranging from academic to mental health workshops.
• -       Improvement of the Manresa library.
• -       Regular movie nights within the big lecture halls on campus.
• -       Chill Out Zones on the field during the summer term  
• -       Welcome socials for new students. 

But most importantly the main aim of my campaign is to make the voice of Whitelands be heard across Roehampton. I’ll strive to make the campus for existing students and the new students joining in the new academic year welcoming them to a safer, better and friendlier Whitelands.
