Candidate Statement
Collaboration does CHARISMA
This is me Vivek Prakash Bishwas, an undergraduate student in University of Roehampton, originally from Nepal. Coming from an international background has shaped me into someone resilient, adaptable and deeply appreciative of diverse perspectives. I understand firsthand the challenges students face - academically, financially and socially — because I live them too.
I am driven by a commitment to making every student’s academic journey meaningful, supported and empowering. I listen actively, act responsibly and bring people together to turn ideas into impact. I believe in fairness, inclusivity and transparency — whether that means tackling the attainment gap, improving accommodation affordability, strengthening career readiness, or creating clearer communication between students and senior management.
As Education President, I will not only represent you — I will stand with you. Together, we can ensure every student feels heard, supported and prepared.
I do not have a long career of official leadership positions, but I have a strong feeling that leadership is not only determined by experience - but rather by will. I have read somewhere that a highly educated person can do very severe mistakes if his/her intention is not correct. Conversely, when one has the right mind even though he is not necessarily the most experienced he can learn, develop and do great things on behalf of the people he represents.
I am born in Nepal, and I have witnessed this in such leaders as Balen Shah who might not have taken a traditional approach to politics, but he won the trust of people because of his sincerity in doing right.
It is something that I might be lacking in titles but will compensate it with dedication, integrity and the desire to serve students with complete integrity.
I don’t just talk - I deliver. I believe you succeed often “When you do, what you say”. As a student union president, I’d be looking towards not giving you a single chance to raise a potential voice against my work.
