I strongly believe that the three strongest qualities of a representative are: Flexibility, Communication and Consistency. These are what form a “golden triangle” which balances adaptability with reliability.
Flexibility- I have always believed that the best solution is multiple solutions as it keeps the majority in mind whilst protecting the minority. I am never married to one idea due to this fact. Rigidity means brittleness, and breaking down when met with a roadblock, creates a large margin for error.
Communication- You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and being flexible with my ideology helps in clear and effective communication as it is an art form. The right questions alongside the right tone, effectively puts your point across and this is something I pride myself on.
Consistency: Neither of these qualities are anything without consistency. I stay consistent in my communication and open mindedness, in order to foster a stable relationship with my peers.
Over the past year, I have played an integral role as the connective tissue between the students and the teachers, acting as a voice between them whilst learning the language of the room.
Particularly as an arts student, I believe these positions have ameliorated in nurturing the skills of creatively and professionally, expressing the ideas and feelings of my peers, in a manner that relates to corporate culture and systems. Being in these positions has taught me that you won’t get a yes immediately, and that there are a plethora of solutions to aid in getting to your goal. Relating back to my career in the arts, you cannot work off shutting down ideas because they don’t work, you must amend them to fit into a mould that keeps the majority in mind whilst protecting the minority, as aforementioned.
Through my guise of confidence and candidness, that I am still a person. I am open to anything, whether that be discussion, debate, opening up new ideas or reviving old ones. Whatever you need, I will do my best to provide a solution.
