Candidate Statement

I’m an extrovert, who seeks community, which gave me the role of Southlands Residential Community Leader. Surrounded by students and staff through multiple events, I feel strong desire to help this college thrive, voices be represented.

I’m Ukrainian. Losing life I always knew, I consider myself an adaptable person. I know the importance of safety and unity, and I’d like Southlands to incorporate that.

I’m a student. In my two years in Roehampton, I was part of many societies: LGBTQ+ society, art societies, sport societies like my dear volleyball team. I talked with people of different backgrounds, but I see problems we share – academic struggles, loneliness and the need to fit in.

I’m human. I’m stubborn, but it helped me become a high achiever. I respect other people’s time, which made me liable and punctual. I’m loud, but I’m a good public speaker and proactive student. I was always loyal to people who trust me, so I would be dedicated to this role with all my fierceness

I am working in the College Community Leader programme this academic year. I organised and participated in a range of Southlands events. As RCCL, I assisted the Faculty of Business and Law with inductions and other projects. I have been trained as a Career Leader with the Roehampton Careers Team. Now, I am going through training to obtain a Student Leadership Certificate. All this experience taught and still is teaching me collaboration, resource and event management and communication skills.

I was a Media Foundation academic representative last year and I am currently a first-year Graphic and Digital Design rep. This gave me experience working with RSU, as well as skills in receiving feedback and being able to present it in a sufficient way.

I also worked in hospitality before starting university. Those years taught me how to work under pressure and tight deadlines, assist people well and navigate conflicts. All the qualities that I consider highly useful in this role.

I'm walking around campus with headphones all the time not because I am antisocial or don’t want to be approached, but because I really like music.

Do approach. I am very talkative if the topic is found. I’ll lower the headphones for you, guys.
