A vote for Jameel is always a great deal!

Hi there, My name is Jameel Aumeer and im hoping to get your vote to be your next Whitelands college deputy president. Now before you go ahead and support me, let me tell you all a little bit about myself. I’m a First year Psychology & Criminology extended student here at Roehampton university, more specifically Whitelands college, where I started my journey into higher education. Since I first joined the college in 2019, it has been a home away from home and a great place to study, hang out with friends and pass the time away in a gorgeous campus that’s full of fantastic people and beautiful scenery. I’ll always look back fondly at the friends and memories I made during my time at the events here, which is why im planning on starting more of them. My ideal goal is to make living on Whitelands more exciting through 4 main goals:

     1. Better facilities on campus!

To give you the best experiences possible, we need to make sure that every one of us is getting the best services provided by the university, which include a strong security presence on campus grounds, stable and fast Wi-Fi during distant learning and quicker fixes to maintenance issues like laundry machines malfunctioning or broken doors.

     2. More events!

The bread and butter of a good university experience. I’m advocating to put the fantastic facilities on campus in use for more fun events like movie nights in the lecture halls, BYOB’s in the Sett and any number of sports-based events we can do on the football pitch at the back of Parkstead house. There would also be smaller scale events such as book clubs, potluck nights, arts & crafts competitions and more so that everyone can find something that clicks with them.

     3. More communal spaces!

One of the areas I believe our campus is lacking in is communal spaces to sit down and take a load a off between lectures or after a long day. That’s why I want to get more seating arrangements and other fun points of interests outside the accommodation and lecture blocks where people can have friendly discussions with mates or just meet up to take in the air with a nice coffee.

     4. Increase communication!

A number of students find it difficult to know when or where these events take place and a lot of that can be attributed to a lack of communication with the RSU since we are further from it than any other college. I want to streamline these systems down and make all students, living on or off campus, aware of what awesome experiences are going on. This could also lead to some RSU events taking place here with better communication channels in place.

If any of these ideas sound appealing to you then make sure to vote for Jameel as your next Whitelands Deputy President. Have a good one!
