Introduction:
Hi, my name is Shola and I am a 3rd year International Business Student and resident of Southlands. I am running for the position of Southlands College President, because I want to be the representative for Southlands and all the people that reside in Southlands, which includes commuters and residents. I feel Southlands is not living up to its potential and I want recreate the community we say we have!
I have experience in student government, customer service, and in recruitment. Within these I have developed effective communication, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, I believe these skills make me an ideal candidate.
What I plan to do :
When elected, I will:
Objective 1. Improving the relationship with accommodation
§ Making sure the Student flats are move in READY.
§ Decreasing maintenance jobs at the start of the year
Objective 2. Improving Southlands Canteen Selection
§ Introducing more Vegan, Halal and Kosher friendly foods and snacks.
§ Enhancing the selection of the Ready meals
§ Making Dietary allergens information easily available to students
Objective 3. 24-hour access to Southlands Gate
§ Opening up access to Southlands gate will improve and enforce safety and security for Southlands residents.
Objective 4. Southlands Social
§ Introducing regular Southlands Student Outings in London and around London including destinations aboard.
§ Using the Quad and Reef for more social events
Objective 5. Collaboration with other officers and Southlands programmes
§ Working with part- time officers and other groups across campus and southlands groups i.e. CCL, Wellbeing team, Chaplaincy in order to bring about effective change and results.
Objective 6. Enforce R.E.A.L
§ R. Reacting to social issues on campus and outside
§ E. Establishing our ethos, spreading visual awareness of sustainability and including it in our daily lives
§ A. Attentiveness to all Southlands Students commuters and residents
§ L. Live the Light, Love Life, motto
I believe these are central objectives to bring about lasting change to Southlands college.
