‘Give it a Go: Activities’ provides students with all sorts of activities to get involved in and there is something for everyone. Again these activities are for everyone and at very reasonable prices. If you have ever thought about trying something new, whether it is for fun or to pick up a new skill then this is the place for you. There is no joining fee and there are flexible payment options from pay as you go to signing up and paying for a whole course.
Activities run from the second week of the first semester from Monday – Thursday.
Price: The classes run on a pay as you go or pay for course basis, with the exception of the language courses which are free.
Instructors: All instructors are qualified and have trained specifically for their courses. For any enquires pleases contact them.
Place: All spaces in which classes are held are subject to change if need be. Instructors will notify you of this and apologise for any inconvenience.
Language courses - can be just for fun or provide extra credits!

French for beginners – Mondays 6pm-8pm
German for beginners – Wednesdays 6pm-8pm
Italian for beginners – Tuesdays 4pm-6pm (group 1) and 6pm-8pm (group 2)
Japanese for beginners – Tuesdays 4pm-6pm (group 1) and 6pm-8pm (group 2)
Spanish for beginners – Monday 6pm-8pm (group 1)
- Wednesday 6pm-8pm (group 2)
- Thursday 4pm-6pm (group 3)

Introduction to the Allotment - Every Monday – RU Allotment – 1pm-1.45pm Do you have a love for the outdoors? Would you like to grow your own food? Join us for the Introduction to the Allotment course, which comprises of 4 consecutive workshops providing an opportunity to actively learn how to start growing your own produce. £1 pay as you go or £3 for 4weeks - With enough interest there is the option of running lessons regularly on a Monday.
Introduction to Permaculture - Every Monday – RU Allotment – 1pm - 1.45pm - £3 for the 4 week course or £1 per week pay as you go.
Are you interested in issues around sustainability? Would you like to learn how to design your garden space according to the principles of Permaculture? We will meet in the RSU and then walk across with you to the university's RU Outdoors Allotment project where the workshops will take place. This course comprises of 4 consecutive sessions that will introduce you to some of the principles and techniques of Permaculture, a project for a more sustainable way of living. After an introductory session, you will organise in working groups to plan, design and liaise with interested parties to create the edible forest as a sustainable, natural resource that provides maximum output for minimum input.
These workshops are for everyone, you don’t have to be an expert to join in. The course is intended as a follow-up to ‘Introduction to the Allotment’ but staff and students who have not taken that course are still welcome to attend.

DJ Workshop- Wednesdays - 5pm til 7pm - Belfry Bar, Digby
Ever fancied a spin on the decks? Whether you’re a beginner or just want to perfect your skills, you can be taught by some of our resident DJs and sign up for a slot at one of our RSU nights ‘DIRTBOX’ run at Southlands bar on a Monday of each month. You never know you could be the next big thing.
Self Defense Classes - Tuesdays - Monte Hall - 4.30pm til 5.30pm - Pay as you go £2 or 4 weeks for £7. The Self Defense Classes are led by one of our own security guards, for those who want to gain a little more confidence or build self steam when it comes to emergency situations. There are beginners sessions and slightly more advanced sessions running from the begging of the first month of each semester in of the academic year. Remember a little bit of training can go a long way.
This class is for every one of all ages and abilities you do not have to be an expert to join. Instructor: Andres Gonzalez Roli
Pole Dancing Lessons - Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ 5.30pm til 6.30pm, 6.30pm til 7.30pm & 7.30pm til 8.30pm - RSU Road Room - 1st Floor.
Price: Pay as you go £7 or can pay on a course basis: 5 week course - £30. Ever fancied trying out some moves on a pole? Well now you can, this is your chance to have fun and get fit at the same time. With a qualified instructor you can learn the basics and develop through a pace and begin to own the pole. Sign up for a one off free session and then get down to the SU on Tuesday evenings for lesson based on an eight week course or you can pay as you go. Instructor: Sue Crespo
First aid courses - £5 basic course £10 for qualifications
Come along and gain a basic first-aid qualification and certificate. Gain that vital information for emergencies and be the one who makes a difference.

Art Attack - Who remembers Art Attack? It’s time to recreate it, let’s get our hands messy! You and your team will be given one hour to create a fantastic piece of giant floor art out of the materials that you bring or find! You’ll be given a theme to work with and judge each other’s work at the end of the hour. The winning team will get brilliant prizes; once we’re done we’ll relax, with drinks and music! Entry £2 pp
