
EVENTS POLICY
The prime objective of RSU events is to create a positive atmosphere allowing you to socialise, interact and have an enjoyable time. If at anytime you feel this is not the case please report any incidents immediately to event security or to the RSU duty manager; for any other incidents or comments please inform the Entertainments Co-Ordinator at RSU.
1.0 - GAINING ENTRY
1.1 - Entry to events is only permitted when a valid Roehampton University card is produced. (NUS cards are not accepted)
1.2 - When the event capacity has been reached no more admittance will be allowed. RSU does not operate a one in one out policy.
1.3 - The main door will be closed at midnight. Admittance will be refused after this point.
1.4 - RSU reserves the right to refuse entry if we believe you are too intoxicated for your safety or for the safety of others
1.5 - If the event requires a ticket or wristband then you must present this to gain entry. If a ticket or wristband is lost, damaged or tampered with then your entry will be refused.
1.6 - Entry can be subject to a search being conducted.
1.7 - Entry can be subject to the removal of hats and hoods.
1.8 – Entry to ‘The Bop’ will only be permitted between the hours of 2200 & 00.15. Last entry through the main Froebel gate on Roehampton Lane must be before 00.15.
1.9 – From 0100 at ‘The Bop’ no paying patron will be permitted re-admittance through the main Froebel gate on Roehampton Lane once they have left site.
Re-admittance/entry at external RSU events is subject to each venue’s respective policy.
2.0 - EVENT CODE OF CONDUCT
2.1 - Aggressive, threatening, violent or intimidating behaviour towards students, guests or members of event staff will not be tolerated.
2.2 - RSU follows the University’s equal opportunities policy.
2.3 - Please report any incidents to a member of event security or the RSU duty manager.
2.4 - The use of/possession of illegal substances is strictly prohibited.
2.5 - Weapons are strictly prohibited.
2.6 - Please arrive and leave all RSU Events quietly, showing respect to our neighbours.
3.0 - SIGNING IN GUESTS
3.1 - You are permitted to sign in one guest per event (excluding certain events throughout the year); the guest must adhere to the event code of conduct.
3.2 - When signing in your guest you are ultimately responsible and accountable for their behaviour. If your guest does not adhere to the event code of conduct you will receive the sanctions as if you had committed the offence yourself.
3.3 - A guest can only be signed in when the procedure below is followed: 3.3.1 - You need to give your guests name and your details to RSU reception. The latest this can be done is 4.30pm on the day of the event (Friday if it is a weekend event).
3.3.2 - Your guest arrives at the event with you.
3.3.3 - The guest provides a valid form of photographic id i.e. passport or driving license.
3.3.4 - The guest agrees to adhere to the event code of conduct.
4.0 - SANCTIONS
4.1 - If you are involved in an incident, your student ID will be confiscated at the event and you will be suspended from all RSU events until you have met with the RSU Management Committee, who will either:
a) Internally decide what length of ban should be imposed
b) Refer to your College Student Welfare Officer or the Director of Student Services.
The committee will then advise you by a letter posted to your current living address of their decision and return your ID Card to you.
4.2 - Each incident will be investigated individually but below are examples of some possible sanctions.
4.2.1 - ban from RSU activities, including trips away. (ranging from a week to life)
4.2.2 - the privilege of signing in guests will be removed.
4.2.3 - campus restrictions.
4.2.4 - your incident being taken to the student review board.
