Black History Fortnight
17th -28th October: By embracing our diverse student communities, you can be part of the national drive to educate, inform, celebrate and share the history of all our cultures across our campuses.
The significance of Black History Month should not be overlooked The struggle of predecessors, great individuals, and organizations that challenged injustice and struggled a once plagued with racism society. Their sacrifices should never be forgotten there continuous battle for a better world and their belief in equality should always be remembering and celebrated. For without their courage stance many of us would not be here today or educate ourselves.
Fat Talk Free Week
18th -22nd October: We want to switch the focus from weight and size, to health and wellbeing! Fat Talk Free Week will be held in conjunction with The Succeed Foundation, a young charity founded in 2010. Their mission is to raise awareness of eating disorders and body image issues in order to place more importance on being healthy.
Don’t Diss my Ability
14th -18th November: One of the greatest barriers that disabled students face is the attitude of other people. There’s a great deal of misunderstanding and confusion surrounding disabilities, and there is often a stigma attached to ‘coming out’ as a disabled student. We want to end this.
Sexual Health and Guidance Week (S.H.A.G)
28th Novermber -2nd December: Everyone has the right to access sexual health and support regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, and gender. Everyone should be able to enjoy a safe and responsible sex life. Unfortunately, not many people are aware of services available, and also the unwanted implications that can occur when having sex irresponsibly.
