"Enhancing the experience of Roehampton Students through representation, development, activities and support"

Welcome to the Governance section of our website, which demonstrates how we effectively manage ourselves, who we are accountable to and how we process all the feedback we get from our students on a regular basis.

RSU is a charity registered with the Charity Commission (registration no.1139857) and we are also registered with Companies’ House (registration number 07323081) two bodies we report to, accountable to and must comply with. In addition to this we are accountable to the University for the funding we receive and to our members, you the students.

RSU are governed by our Memorandum and Articles of Association and Bye-Laws, effectively outlining our charitable objectives, powers, and how we govern and manage Roehampton Students’ Union. These have been approved by Companies House, Charity Commission, Roehampton University Council and Student Council and it is the responsibility of the Trustee Board to ensure we comply and achieve our charitable objectives.

We also make ourselves accountable to you the students by holding Student Union Council (SUC), this is a great opportunity for you to come along, you can also propose motions that can be discussed and join in discussions, see the SUC section for more details.

Charitable Objectives:
 - Promoting the interests and welfare of Students at Roehampton University during their course of study and representing, supporting and advising Students
 - Being the recognised representative channel between Students and Roehampton University and any other external bodies; and
 - Providing social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussions and debate for the personal development of its Students.

Affiliations:
Roehampton Students’ Union are currently affiliated to NUS (National Union of Students). It is their mission ‘to promote, defend and extend the rights of students and to develop and champion strong students' unions’. Roehampton Students’ Union continued affiliation is considered and brought to Student Union Council each year at the same time we submit our budget. RSU have shared a positive and successful affiliation with NUS for the past 14 years.
